Fabrice Vauclair
School Principal / Chief Instructor
Our RYA Training Centre, Seawings, is run by Fabrice, the school’s Principal and Chief Instructor for sailing yachts, motor cruisers, and powerboats. He also teaches RADAR and marine radio courses. Fabrice brings many years of sailing and teaching experience from around the globe, having worked with a wide variety of vessels. He is licensed by the maritime authorities of the United Kingdom, France, New Zealand, and Portugal.
Originally from France, Fabrice has spent most of his professional life abroad. He worked as a Senior Instructor at the Royal Port Nicholson Sailing Academy in Wellington, New Zealand (now Wellington Ocean Sports) and later taught the RYA sailing and motor cruising schemes in the United Kingdom.
Since 2011, Fabrice has been living and working in Portugal, based in Cascais, where he enjoys the country’s fantastic climate and rich culture. The region offers excellent conditions for RYA training, with diverse sailing destinations, tidal waters, busy traffic, and reliable sunshine and wind throughout the year.
Fabrice is fluent in English, Portuguese, and French, and has a working knowledge of German. As a passionate instructor and skipper, he values students’ time and is committed to delivering high-quality training in a professional, flexible, friendly, and supportive manner.
His students, who come from all over the world and from many different backgrounds, consistently praise his teaching skills and approach to instruction.

Rui Belo Silva
Events Skipper
Rui is one of the founding partners of Seawings and has been a sea enthusiast for more than 25 years. With a degree in engineering, he is part of the land team with responsibilities for managing and coordinating all the logistics required for a good performance at sea. He is also a qualified professional skipper.
With many miles navigated along the Portuguese coast and in oceanic trips in the Portuguese islands he is an adept of windsurf and everything that relates to the sea.
